Snippets and random thoughts on our life in Paris. Although the interesting stuff seems to more about our adventures away from Paris, but whatever. We live in Paris, we like to travel, we like to eat, and voila. Enjoy.

Day Three part 2
After we finished at St. Isaacs, we headed across the street to the beautiful park (there are huge parks everywhere in the city) to visit the statue of __________________ (insert name of famous Russian that I have forgotten)
Then we headed home to prepare for our Russian BBQ (shashlik) in the forest across the street from the apartment. The meat had been marinating for over a day, and we loaded up and hiked to a small lake in the forest, apparently a prime shashlik spot.
The boys worked on the fire
Which was so much fun they almost didn't eat
Julia's mom was in love with their dog. We joked that she would miss the dog more than Julia.
This small fire was used to toast bread. And entertain the boys :)
Apparently Russian BBQ mandates that the ladies sit comfortably and be served by the men. No problem for us!
Thomas tending to the shashlik. This was a small metal box with a fire in the bottom, and the meat is put on skewers.
The sky at 10:30pm. It was a lovely day, and we had a great time wandering around the forest and checking out the lake.
Did we mention that Julia's mom and the dog really hit it off? :)
